An Everyday Wine at an Everyday Price Direct from Highway 12 Winery…$7.25 per bottle! Available at this price for a limited time.
Every wine enthusiast needs an ‘everyday’ wine in their collection. Perfect for that outdoor grilling affair with friends or with that quick ‘mid-week’ dinner, ‘Old Sonoma Red’ is a blend of good ole’ fashioned Sonoma Merlot and Zinfandel. Barrel aged for 17 months and produced in a medium bodied fashion, the winemaking goal was a wine that reflected the flavor and feel of Old Sonoma named for our Historic Tasting Room’s original occupant in 1890.
Enjoy with hearty winter fare such as Pasta Bolognese, Pizza or Chili!
Winemaker Michael Sebastiani has followed up his 2008 Gold Medal release with an equally fresh, crisp and memorable expression of this incredible growing region. On the palate, flavors of green apple, melon, Meyer lemon and tropical fruit are expressed in a bright, clean setting. Quoting Wine Enthusiast Magazine on the previous vintage, “ A beautiful and serious wine, among the best of its type.”
Our Carneros Highway Chardonnay “Nueva” displays the character and style of modern Chardonnay wines. Malolactic fermentation and barrel aging sur lees in new oak lend to a rich, smooth, full-bodied wine.
Kind of a rarity for Carneros, this Merlot was one of our “delightful surprises” from our 2007 vintage – not often will one find such a classic Bordeaux wine from our cooler region. Our Carneros Merlot aged beautifully for 16 months in the cellar and has terrific berry complexity (cranberry, raspberry, blackberry), finishing with its unique subtle hint of mint.
We claim title – with confidence – to “one of the heartiest Merlots you’re likely to find.” Every bit a Merlot with its ripe plum, blackberry and vanilla softness, and terroir-inflused character. A wonderful aperitif, a great complement to a wide variety of dishes and one of our new favorites here at the winery.
Highway 12 Winemaker, Michael Sebastiani, has a storied history in the production of California grown Italian varietals. This premiere release is a Sonoma Valley blend of Sangiovese (55%), Primitivo (27%) and Zinfandel (18%). Bright cherry notes from the Sangiovese are supported by the deep berry lushness typical of Primitivo and Zinfandel. We toast the Italian spirit of Sonoma and our downtown ‘Piazza’ with this elegant release. 250 cases produced.
The follow-up to our 2006 Estate Syrah, from the same vineyard block and possessing the same intense fruit profile over a lush, earthy, velvet texture. Aromas of savory cherry and bittersweet chocolate are complimented by flavors of dark fruit, blackberry jam, smoke and subtle spice.
The new 2007 release is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. An intense dark color leads the way to wonderful ripe Cabernet aromos of dark berries and soft French oak nuances. The silky entry provides for a polished varietal presence supported by aggressive tannins that will soften with age. A wine for people seeking ‘big bold reds.’
A Highway 12 Winery flagship. Equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot from a favorite ‘Highway 12’ vineyard. Each varietal brings its characteristic flair from intense Cabernet (34%) richness, silky elegance from the Cab Franc (33%) and lush, earthy tones from the Merlot (33%). The 2008 release is brimming with intense berry-like richness and a soft, full finish.
As our icon wine, Highwayman is that particular wine where we let our winemaking guards down and allow the wine itself to present its flavor and story. With a very limited production of only 4 barrels (99 cases), these barrels our found within our best batches. We show equal representation of our premier vineyard blocks and taste each individual barrel – this creates an equal blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Highwayman represents the wine making pinnacle of our Highway 12 corridor.
The red-Aleatico grape is a cousin of the white Muscat varieties, and as such, retains the floral, rosey, and honey-like Muscat aromas and flavors. It vinifies into a soft, fragrant dessert or aperitif wine. The wine retains a 5% residual sugar and 16% alcohol with no blending or fortification – it’s 100% Aleatico with an arrested fermentation.
